I Love Commercials: Trident

My first job was at a local Five Guys, flipping burgers and cutting fries. (More on that another time) Regrettably, despite all the perks and experiences I had there, I was never paid in Trident layers. I hear the manager does, though.

Take it easy this Friday; be glad that gum is cheap, and that you can probably afford many packs on salary. :D

I Love Commercials: 1877Kars4Kids

If you are from the Massachusetts area of the United States, you may have heard this commercial on the radio. If you are not from around there, I can give you this warning: every who's heard it will agree that it is annoying and will get stuck in your head. I love how the little kid sings, then the old man sings, and they finish by singing together. Super cute!

Bonus! They are now on the web, if you want to donate your car.  I hope you'll be singing this awesome commercial all weekend. I also hope I did not cause you any mental trauma by telling you to listen to it. Have a wonderful weekend!

I love Commercials: Apple

Apple often receives criticism for the way it oversells its products, which is apparent from the multitude of rather insulting parodies that exist for Siri commercials. I'm not siding either way, and I'm grateful for the (cracked but still functional) iPod Touch that carries the music that enables my survival, but I do like the simplicity element in this commercial. And, of course, it's hard not to like Samuel Jackson making dinner for date night. This commercial does its job.

P.S. I don't know what gazpacho ("'spacho'") is.

I hope this commercial inspires you to appreciate elegance where it's deserving this weekend, and that you make the most of it. Happy Friday!

I Love Commercials: Zazoo

You'll like this commercial even more if you don't look at the title of the video and don't know what Zazoo is about. This is an old one, do any of you remember it? I was certain this was a candy commercial right until the end, until I couldn't help breaking out in laughter. It's interesting how anything humorous that you think about long enough has a deeper meaning as to why it's funny. I wonder if people actually have those thoughts about their children.

I hope your Labor Day weekend is not ruined by children! Make it a good one.

I love Commercials: Athenos

I have never went shopping for hummus, and I probably will not for a long time, but when I do, Athenos will be the brand to pop into my head. Thanks to this commercial series. They say a lot of humor is funny because it's true, and this is a perfect example of that. This commercial pokes fun at how unyielding the elderly and foreign-ly can be. While not reliable, stereotypes do exist for a reason.

"Did... she just call me a prostitute?"
Hope this helps start your weekend off right! Make it a good one, and do something that you might end up regretting.

I Love Commercials: Thai Life Insurance

This commercial is one that I've known about for a while. I hope it doesn't depress you right before the weekend, but it really is one of the most beautiful ones I've seen. It's not in English, I apologize, but its content is relate-able enough that all of us can understand it (along with some help from subtitles). We all have wished we had more time at some point in our lives, but time is non-refundable. What we can do, though, is make the most of the time we have left.

Thanks for watching. Make the most of your weekend!
